Custom block themes

We build WordPress themes from scratch for your design, as block themes that work with the editor WordPress ships with. There is no page builder underneath, so the site loads only the styles and scripts it uses.

What's included

  • A custom block theme for your design
  • Templates for every kind of page
  • Patterns for the sections you reuse
  • Light and dark versions when you want them
02

Editing that stays easy

Your team edits in the normal WordPress editor. We set up the blocks, patterns and styles so a new page looks right without a designer, and lock down the parts that should not move.

What's included

  • Editor styles that match the live site
  • Reusable patterns and locked layouts
  • A short handover for your editors
03

Fast and safe by default

A theme can do a lot for speed and security on its own. Ours load fonts from your own server, keep scripts small, switch off features you don't use, and close common gaps such as XML-RPC and username discovery.

What's included

  • Self-hosted fonts and minimal scripts
  • No tracking or third-party requests unless you add them
  • Hardening for common WordPress attacks
04

Moving and improving

We move sites onto WordPress or onto a new theme without losing the pages that bring in search traffic, and set up an SEO plugin such as Rank Math so titles, sitemaps and structured data are handled.

What's included

  • Theme rebuilds for existing WordPress sites
  • Migration with redirects
  • SEO plugin setup

You are looking at one

The KRYLOweb blog at kryloweb.com/blog runs on a custom block theme we built for it, with the same fonts and the same light and dark switch as the rest of this site. It uses no page builder and makes no requests to other companies' servers.

WordPress suits a site that several people update often. If your pages rarely change and speed matters most, a static site may suit you better, and we will tell you which we would choose.

Common questions

What is a block theme?
A WordPress theme built for the block editor, where every part of the site, including headers and footers, is made of blocks you can edit in WordPress itself.
Why not use a page builder?
Page builders make editing flexible but add a lot of code to every page, which slows the site down. A custom block theme gives you most of the flexibility with far less weight.
Can you work on my existing WordPress site?
Yes. We can fix, extend or rebuild its theme, and keep your content, users and settings.
Do you build WooCommerce stores?
Yes, though for most stores we recommend Shopify. We explain the trade-off on our e-commerce page.
How much does a WordPress site cost?
The same as any custom site from us: $500 to $3,000 for a small business site and $3,000 to $10,000 for a larger one. Our pricing page explains what moves the price.
