Custom website design cost with KRYLOweb is $500 to $3,000 for a small business site of about 5 to 10 pages, $3,000 to $10,000 for a larger site or web app, and $500 to $5,000 for an online store. Published guides from other agencies put a custom site much higher, commonly from $5,000 to $35,000 for a small or mid-size business. The gap comes from who builds the site, how much of it is custom, and how the studio is run.
This guide shows our prices next to the published ones, explains what moves a price within a range, lists what quotes often leave out, and ends with a way to compare two quotes fairly.

Custom website design cost at a glance
These are our prices, in US dollars, as of October 2026.
| Project | What it usually covers | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Small business website | About 5 to 10 pages, custom design, built on a CMS or in code | $500 to $3,000 |
| Larger website or web app | About 10 to 30 pages, or integrations such as a CRM, bookings or payments | $3,000 to $10,000 |
| Online store | Shopify or custom code | $500 to $5,000 |
| Website redesign | A new design and rebuild that keeps your search traffic | The same as a new build of that size |
| Website management | Updates, backups, fixes and small changes | $50 to $150 a month |
Hosting, the domain and paid apps or plugins are paid to their providers and are not in these prices.
How that compares with published prices
Most published price guides are written by agencies that sell websites, so treat them as a direction rather than a quote. Here is what three recent ones say.
- DesignStudioUIUX’s 2026 guide puts a basic website at $5,000 to $15,000, a medium complexity site at $20,000 to $40,000, and a small business site at $5,000 to $30,000. It lists average agency hourly rates of $100 and up in the US, $90 and up in the UK, and $80 and up in Canada and Australia.
- Digitaleer’s 2026 guide puts a typical custom website at $12,000 to $35,000, a focused 5 to 10 page business site at $12,000 to $18,000, and says a genuinely custom site starts at around $12,000.
- Digital Silk’s guide (updated April 2025) puts a startup site of under 15 pages at $25,000 to $30,000 and a mid-size corporate site at $50,000 to $60,000 and up.

Our ranges sit below all of these. We are a young studio building our client list, we work remotely as one small team, and the same people design and build, so there is no handover between departments in the price. You should still ask any studio, including us, what is in the price and what is not.
What moves a price within its range
Two sites with the same number of pages can cost very different amounts. These are the things that decide where a project lands.
Page templates. A template is a layout that several pages share. Ten pages built from two templates take less design and build time than six pages that each need their own layout.
Content. If you send finished text and photos, the price stays lower. If we write the copy, source images or rework a lot of existing content, that is extra time.
Integrations. A contact form is simple. Online payments, a booking system, a CRM or your accounting software each add design, development and testing.
E-commerce scale. For a store, the number of products and variants, shipping and tax rules, and the apps it needs all move the price.
Custom features. Anything a theme or plugin doesn’t already do, such as a quote calculator or a members’ area, has to be designed and built from scratch.
Deadline. A firm launch date close to the start can mean more people on the project at the same time.
What quotes often leave out
When you compare quotes, check whether each one includes these, because they are easy to miss and they add up.
- Copywriting. Many quotes assume you supply the text.
- Photography and illustration. Stock images cost money, and custom photography costs more.
- Hosting and domain. WebsiteSetup’s 2026 guide puts domain renewals at $10 to $25 a year and hosting or a website builder at $5 to $75 a month.
- Paid plugins, apps and themes. Some charge yearly or monthly.
- Ongoing maintenance. The same guide puts small business maintenance at $30 to $250 a month.
- Training. Whether someone shows you how to update the site yourself.
- SEO beyond the basics. Setting up titles and a sitemap is one thing. Planning content around searches is another.
How to compare two quotes fairly
- Write one short brief and send the same one to everyone: the pages you need, the features, who writes the content, and your launch date.
- Ask each studio to list what is included and what is not, in writing.
- Ask who designs and who builds, and whether they are the same people.
- Ask who owns the code, the design files and the accounts after launch.
- Ask what support looks like in the first month after launch and what it costs after that.
- Compare the lists, not the totals. A cheaper quote that leaves out content and hosting can end up costing more.
Questions people ask about website costs
Is a cheaper website always worse? No, but a very low price should prompt the question of what has been left out. Ask for examples of live sites and check them on your phone.
Should I pay monthly or upfront? Building a site is usually priced as a project. Hosting, the domain and management are monthly or yearly. Be careful with plans that bundle the build into a long monthly contract, and check who owns the site if you stop paying.
Can I start small and add pages later? Yes. Many sites launch with the pages that matter most and grow afterwards. Ask for the structure to be planned so new pages fit without a rebuild.
How much should I budget for a redesign? For us, about the same as a new site of the same size, because most of the work is the same. We cover this in our guide to website redesign cost.
What to do next
Write down the pages and features you need, then compare them with the table above. If you want a number for your project, our pricing page explains each range, and you can ask us for a quote.
